Clear ruby color with a garnet rim. The aromas are intense and complex, with initially some ripe red fruits such as raspberry, red cherries and a floral touch. After swirling, toast, charred wood, and coffee join the red fruit basket. The wine is fully ripe and shows a particularly good balance of the acidity and alcohol. The tannins are gently integrated with the red fruits and secondary flavors. The finish is very long, dominated by the red cherry. A great, very elegant and complex wine.
Château Grand Renouil
Consistently rated in the top wines of Canon Fronsac, Chateau Grand Renouil faded into obscurity after the revolution, but was resurrected by the Ponty Family in 1938. The 100% Merlot Vines that they planted back then are now over 80 years old and give a wine of such immense richness and depth that it has been dubbed “The Petrus of Fronsac”, although at 9000 bottles per year, its production is much more confidential than its famous neighbor. Opulent, intense yet very elegant, this wine will make an impression.
When to drink it?
It is our celebration wine: birthday, weddings, a family gathering, or any day that you feel like celebrating, this wine will be there to make your event extra special. If you are wondering what to eat with it, we would recommend a nice ribeye steak, and a side dish of mushrooms. For those older vintages with truffle aromas, try pairing it with a truffle dish.
